Established and Directed 3 cancer unit’s oncology. Pioneered Various Surgical procedures in Pune and India, in practice as an Oncosurgeon and Breast surgeon for the last 23 yrs. Principal Investigator in several international clinical trials including the Teach study.

Endeavours and aspirations

• To help set up comprehensive and integrated treatment management centers for cancer which is the need of the hour
• To establish Breast Specialty Clinics in India
• To establish Oncoplastic Surgery as a specialty in Hospitals I practice in.
• To excel in the diagnoses and treatment of Breast Cancer

• Established a comprehensive breast clinic at Orchids Breast Health with Digital Mammography and ABVS
• Have been trained in Oncoplastic Breast procedures and have been performing them since the last 5 years
• Am now the trainer for reconstructive breast surgery with Implants for Mentor India. Have trained several surgeons from India on Oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery.
• Established Comprehensive cancer services for the first time in Pune at the M. N. Budhrani Cancer Hospital and then at Jehangir hospital.
• As Director Ruby Hall Cancer center established protocols and helped set up the center in the first year of its commissioning
• Established “Breast Cancer Unit” Have been trained in and have performed biopsies using guided procedures – trucut and Mammotome biopsies since the last 3 yrs. The mammotome is a computer-guided probe to perform breast biopsies. A Mammotome biopsy can be done on an outpatient basis with a local anesthetic
• Established protocol for “ACCELERATED PARTIAL BREAST IRRADIATION”. Have Accrued 35 patients for the same in the last 2 years
• Have performed and established a protocol for Conservative CA Breast surgeries since 1994 and have performed more than 1000 such procedures till date
• Have performed sentinel Node biopsy procedures since the last 3 years after validating my self through completion axillary clearance in the 1st 30 cases
• Management and establishment of procedures for non-palpable lesions of the breast for the first time in Pune and have been doing this from 1995
• Expertise in establishing Cryotherapy, Radiofrequency ablation and Hepatic artery catheterisation facilities
• Management of liver tumors through Cryotherapy, Radiofrequency ablation and Hepatic artery catheterisation after special training from Australia and Germany. I pioneered these surgeries in the country and conducted numerous workshops in India.
